Untested Millimeter Wave Spectrum Hits $3 Billion in Bids
The FCC initiated Auction 103 on December 10th, 2019. Since then, the Commission has raked in $3 billion in bids from telecom companies hoping to get the upper-hand on 5G-friendly spectrum. But here's the big catch: The upper microwave spectrum being auctioned off has never been tested for long-term safety.
Hundreds of peer-reviewed, independent scientific studies prove that lower microwave frequencies can cause neurological problems, reproductive problems, and even cancer in biological systems.
Enabling telecom companies to expose millions of Americans 24/7 to powerful, untested microwave emissions is irresponsible and completely antithetical to the Precautionary Principle. We believe Auction 103 should be stopped until such time as the FDA and the FCC can prove that exposure to upper microwave frequencies will not induce irreparable harm to public health. Is that such an unreasonable demand? Read the news on the auction here.
